Our story begins in 1971 in Kempen (North Rhine-Westphalia), when the te Neues printing company teamed up with US direct marketing specialist R.L. Polk (Detroit) to found PORTICA GmbH. Back then, direct marketing was still much more complex: advertising materials were produced, but storage, shipping, and reporting had to be organized by the companies using the advertising materials themselves.
This is exactly where we came in – with a vision of making marketing processes more efficient. Our idea: tailor-made services along the entire value chain. Our very first customer, Adam Opel AG (now Opel Automobile GmbH), put its trust in our concept – and is still with us today.
Increasing demands – growing range
As the number of customers grew, so did their expectations. What started out as 3,000 m² of storage and work space has now grown to 20,000 m². Processes became more numerous and more complex – making intelligent control via IT systems indispensable. For almost 40 years, our subsidiary GEDAK has been developing tailor-made solutions for this purpose.
Today, PORTICA is active in three business areas: marketing logistics as its origin, complementary services for sales promotion since the late 1970s and – since the 1980s – entry into e-commerce. What began back then with the Camel Shop of Cologne-based WBI now encompasses customer service, returns management and accounts receivable support – and continues to grow steadily.

Our day-to-day business includes the development and support of web shops (B2B and B2C), diverse payment methods and comprehensive fulfilment. A new addition is the connection and support of e-commerce retailers on leading marketplaces.
