Situation

The Rebate Act introduced in Germany in 1933 was abolished in 2001. Accordingly many forms of rebates are now possible. An interesting form is called the cash-back (also mail-in rebate). With this a company can grant a buyer a rebate by means of invoice or EAN evidence. Surveys in the USA, where this form of rebate has already been in use for many years, have shown that 60% of buyers hand in the necessary documents. Already really big in the USA, the cash-back wave is now swashing over to Europe.

Solution

Although cash-back is already being used in many cases as an interesting marketing tool, many market participants do not know enough about the possibilities of this tool. The challenge lies in the defining of an amount which is attractive enough for purchase, but for collecting and sending in is low enough for sending in to be neglected.
