PORTICA acquires Bayer Schering Pharma as a client

-       Key player in the pharmaceutical industry delegates international delivery of reprints and other sales materials to PORTICA

(Kempen) PORTICA GmbH Marketing Support has acquired one of the leading international German pharmaceutical companies as a client: Bayer Schering Pharma. The service provider will assume responsibility for all the logistics of delivering reprints and other items necessary for sales efforts. PORTICA has set up a dedicated online shop for this and integrated it with the existing SAP infrastructure at Bayer Schering Pharma. 

Bayer Schering Pharma is one of the ten largest international companies for specialty pharmaceuticals. Its products are marketed in more than 100 countries, with sales generated in 2009 of more than € 10.4 billion. Bayer Schering Pharma employs about 36,300 employees worldwide, more than 5,900 of these in research and development.

The company decided to channel orders of reprints and other materials needed for sales, such as all product brochures, through a new service provider in order to increase efficiency and reduce costs. The contract was awarded for the response submitted by PORTICA to the proposal request. The company, which is based in Kempen, Germany, offered convincing expertise and efficiency as well as knowledge in IT matters.

Thus PORTICA established a web shop according to specifications from Bayer Schering Pharma for ordering materials. This was integrated, including inventory management, with the SAP system of the pharmaceutical company. The various persons with marketing responsibilities who need materials access the shop directly from SAP, fill their “shopping carts” with items from a selection currently exceeding 1800, after which the information is transferred directly to the SAP system again. After internal approval processes are completed, PORTICA receives a binding order from Bayer Schering Pharma directly in the inventory control system. The current status of an order can be checked online at any time.
